Ever thought of moving to a new country? Ted Botha and Jenni Baxter did – him to New York, her to Sydney, Australia. Business emails quickly turned to friendship, despite the thousands of miles that divided them, and they soon realised that they were going through the same trials and tribulations unique to expatriates. Missing home, getting used to strange customs, longing for friends, searching for places they could buy familiar food. So, to find out more about this particular tribe they belonged to, they contacted five hundred other expats around the world – from Alaska to China, San Diego to Brighton – and asked them how they felt about their new countries and what they liked and didn’t like about their new homes.
